Ball Pottery Mold

Ball Pottery Mold

This is a split pottery mold, containment ring and clay pestle for one half of a 52mm diameter ball. The containment ring is used to hold the two pottery mold halves together, and the pestle is used to press and shape the clay within the mold. Using the mold, you can make spoons, or a complete 52mm ball…see the attached picture (pieces have not been fired or painted yet). For a complete ball, one would make 2 ball halves and then meld them together. Be sure to leave a breathing hole before firing to vent the ball interior. Can use cellophane in the mold for clay release.I printed the files using PLA+. Used 5 perimeters and 25% infill (could probably get away with less). Used 0.16 mm layer height (0.2 mm layer height for containment ring), and adaptive layers (0.09 mm layer height) at just the bottom of mold to reduce layer lines.
