Ball Mount to 16.5 mm Tube Mount Modular Connector
thingiverse
I'm thrilled to share my first contribution to the modular mounting system, and it's a doozy - it doesn't even use the modular hinge! Instead, I opted for the Ball joint by Gavitka, which has already proven itself as a reliable solution in various modular mounting applications. My initial challenge was figuring out how to securely attach my smartphone to serve as a dash cam in my trusty 2004 Toyota Corolla. The answer lay in attaching it to the rearview mirror using the ingenious modular mounting system. This clever attachment connects seamlessly to the 16.5 mm diameter stem of the rearview mirror via two zip ties, providing a sturdy hold that won't budge even on the bumpiest roads. Next, I utilized the socket end of Gavika's mount to link up with my ball end, and then attached yyh1002's phone mount to complete the setup. With this design, it should be a breeze to modify the curved end to fit your specific diameter tube - just remix the design to suit your needs. Stay tuned for some fantastic photos showcasing this innovative solution in action!
