Ball Knob Radius Cutter
grabcad
I created a Radius (Ball-Knob) Cutter for my lathe as an experiment, using SolidWorks 2014. My aim was to design a quick-mount system that only required one nut for mounting the cutter unit to the lathe. The setup is easy to switch and use with my normal lathe tool post. To construct the body, I welded a half-inch flat bar and then machined it on a milling machine. The brass knob you see in the picture was the first test part cut using this new unit. You can watch the video for more details: http://youtu.be/P8TdphZ6uWk (main video), and to see how it works with my lathe tool post, check out http://youtu.be/BTa2Tp0IrBc.
