Ball joint nut

Ball joint nut

This is a replacement nut designed specifically for the ball joint that secures the rod to the cell phone clamp of an IPOW Truck Cell Phone Mount. The original nut thread tolerances were woefully inadequate, easily allowing threads to jump when tightened. My mount, a pre-2018 model, is still susceptible to this issue despite product updates. I believe the nut itself has remained unchanged. The nut's threads feature a deliberate taper of approximately 2-3 degrees, engineered to provide a stronger grip as it tightens. However, its tolerance is relatively narrow, so depending on your printer settings, you may need to scale the part up by a couple percent in both X and Y axes for optimal results. Be cautious not to adjust the Z-axis setting, as this will alter the thread count. For applications where the mount will be used inside a vehicle, I recommend printing with ABS or nylon materials. These will provide better durability and resistance to heat, which is crucial on hot summer days when using PLA would result in inadequate hold.
