Ball Joint
myminifactory
This is a fully customizable ball joint designed for use on linear shafts. It allows the object to rotate around the shaft while also permitting it to pivot freely. The design consists of three main components: the ball_joint_holder, which has a hole for a 10mm shaft; the ball_joint_center, featuring four hemispheres that serve as the central pivot point; and the ball_joint_c_socket, an optional center socket that enhances the range of motion. Only one part requires support during printing - the optional ball_joint_c_socket. The most basic configuration involves two ends with a single pivot point, enabling approximately 45 degrees of pivoting movement. As additional center sockets and pivot points are integrated, the range of motion expands by another 45 degrees. To achieve optimal results, print the ends with the circular rod recess facing downwards on the bed, while printing the center pivots with the flat side of the center square oriented upwards. This orientation eliminates the need for supports during printing.
