I liked the ball joint by Dumbozo, but it was too big to use it with my generic smartphone holder. So I tried my own take on it in FreeCAD, and a parametric (although not as nice) version in OpenSCAD. If your ball happens to be 17 mm in diameter, you can use the STL version, otherwise customize with the diameter you need.
