Ball in a Box
thingiverse
I designed this **Ball in a Box** while experimenting with various filaments. I wanted to try something with PVA supports, so I started printing it using different methods including single extrusion, dual extrusion, PLA with PVA supports, and TPU with PVA supports (which aren't shown).\r\n\r\nHere are the prints that worked:\r\nPLA Blue/Red\r\nPLA Orange\r\nPLA Pink / PVA Supports\r\n\r\nThis model is a fun toy to play with. The ball in the TPU version could be squeezed out, but after a day of playing it broke the box. I haven't tried combining a TPU ball with a PLA box yet.\r\n\r\nPVA supports are necessary for the ball. When setting up my prints, I raised the models slightly so that the bottoms of the box sphere corners were nestled in supports rather than sticking to the print bed directly since I was having trouble with that. For the PVA print, I included a raft because the PVA wasn't sticking to the bed.\r\n\r\nI also used this model to experiment with bridging and supports. The best prints for the box were when I included supports, but without supports the drooping wasn't too bad since I could pick off the worst strands. See the photos.\r\n\r\nI wish I had a third extruder so that I could print with two colors and PVA supports! My husband thinks this would be a great cat toy, but we don't have a cat to test it out.\r\n\r\nMore of my models can be found on Cults:\r\nhttps://cults3d.com/en/users/abbymath
