Ball Head Mini Painting Stand - Bottle cap
thingiverse
I recently discovered these versatile stands, and just a week ago I decided to create one for myself. After remixing it to suit my needs, I designed a simple rotating stand that I was eager to share with others. However, after printing the first ball head, I realized it didn't tilt enough, so I made some adjustments until this final version was complete. This stand is perfect for standard soda or water bottles, but I use a 1.5L smart water bottle myself. Any 16oz or 2L bottle should work just fine. To keep the stand stable while printing, simply fill it fairly full with water or sand. I've added an alternate Bottle cap for 800ml VOSS water bottles, which is ideal for glass versions that are quite heavy and may not require much ballast to stay stable. Here's a list of the materials needed: - Mini holder to Ball Socket: 1 x Hex socket bolt M3 x 10 and 1 x Hex nut M3 (lock nut) - Adjustment Knob to Ball Socket for tightening: 1 x Hex socket bolt M4 x 20 and 1 x Hex nut M4 (non-lock nut) - Bottle Cap to Ball Head: 1 x #8 x 3/4" Wood Screw or something equivalent - Mini to Mini Holder: Rubber Bands, preferably small ones Before assembling the stand, give the ball a quick once-over with sandpaper to make it smoother. This will ensure that the socket holds tight but still allows for easy spinning and tilting. I've found that with enough force, I can pull the socket right off the ball, which is helpful for getting certain angles even this stand won't allow for. It should pop right back on unless your socket is really tight. This mini stand is an earlier version of my [Tabaxi Tiger Fighter](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2829671).
