Ball Bearings

Ball bearings are a type of rolling-element bearing that employs balls to separate the races. Their main function is to minimize rotational friction and support radial and axial loads through at least three races, which contain the balls and distribute loads via the spheres. Typically, one race remains stationary while the other attaches to a spinning part (like a hub or shaft). As the moving race revolves, it causes the balls to spin as well, resulting in reduced friction compared to flat surfaces sliding against each other. Despite having lower load capacity for their size than other rolling-element bearings due to less contact area between balls and races, ball bearings can tolerate some misalignment of inner and outer races. Any feedback is appreciated!
