I've built a BuMat Brand filament holder using two standard rollerblade/skate bearings for exceptional smooth operation. You can access the Pro/E file and a stp file to customize it for any diameter filament spool you desire. Future iterations of this design will support multiple diameters. The rotating motion is extremely smooth and has proven highly effective in my setup, where I plan to replicate a versatile holder that fits different filament spool sizes later on.
