Officially Extinct in 1920s The Bali tiger, also known as the Balinese tiger, was a subspecies of tiger that was native to the Indonesian island of Bali. Unfortunately, the Bali tiger is now considered extinct, with the last confirmed sighting occurring in the 1930s. The Bali tiger was relatively small compared to other tiger subspecies, with males typically weighing around 100-120 kilograms (220-260 pounds) and measuring about 2.2-2.5 meters (7-8 feet) in length, including the tail. They had a distinct dark reddish-orange coat with narrow and widely spaced stripes. Habitat loss and hunting were the primary factors leading to the extinction of the Bali tiger. As human populations increased on the island, forests were cleared for agriculture and settlements, resulting in the loss of the tiger's natural habitat. Additionally, the Bali tiger was hunted by humans who considered it a threat to their livestock and as a trophy. Other contributing factors include diseases and competition with other predators.
