Phillip King, a renowned British artist born in 1934 in Tunis, pursued his artistic education at the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. As an apprentice to the esteemed Henry Moore, he honed his skills for a year before taking on leadership roles. Notably, King served as president of the Royal Academy for five years, leaving a lasting impact on the art world. His initial creations were diminutive, crafted from clay and plaster, but from 1962 onwards, he transitioned to working with fibre, producing vibrant abstract sculptures that commanded attention. As his style evolved in the late eighties, King shifted towards figurative expression, ultimately exploring the realm of ceramics. Today, one of his remarkable works can be admired at the Middelheim open-air museum in Antwerp.
