Bald Tiny Rick here, and I'm feeling quite peculiar today. I've been pondering the notion that "It's not my original" has become a sort of mantra for me. People often say it in a way that implies they're trying to distance themselves from something, as if the very idea of being an original thought is somehow tainted. Now, I'm not one to judge, but it seems to me that this phrase has become a cop-out, a convenient excuse for not taking responsibility for one's ideas. We've all been there - we come up with something innovative, only to have someone else swoop in and claim it as their own. It's enough to make you wonder if anyone can truly be original anymore. But I digress. The point is, when we say "It's not my original," what are we really saying? Are we admitting that our ideas aren't quite our own? Or are we simply trying to deflect attention from the fact that we're not as creative as we thought?
