Balconies - Old vs New

Balconies offer an internal extension onto an exterior surface, allowing people to step outside while still enjoying the privacy of being indoors. What makes balconies so desirable is this unique ability to balance freedom with seclusion. A comparative study of balconies in older versus newer buildings revealed striking differences. By analyzing the data collected, we found that modern balconies are generally more spacious, whereas their ancient counterparts are often more practical and utilized on a regular basis. The accompanying model showcases a progression from old to new through strategically placed recesses and extensions, railings and glazing systems, openings, and varying lengths - all of which significantly impact usage and personal space.
