Bakers Rack Bookends
thingiverse
To create durable book shelves, I opted for wire bakers' racks as they were more sturdy than cheap pressed-wood alternatives at a similar price. Additionally, these racks did not accumulate dust. However, keeping books from falling over proved to be an issue. To address this problem, I designed and printed custom bookends using the free Blender 3D modeling program. In a tutorial detailing my process, I explain how to engineer your own 3D printable items from concept to completion. Check out "Bakers' Rack Bookend Blender 3D Printing" on Instructables for step-by-step guidance. For the bookends, you have the option of selecting arches with or without a lion emblem, or plain wedge designs. After printing, remove the "mouse ears" rafts by cutting or breaking them off. I used PLA filament, with 2 shells and 10% infill for optimal stability.
