Bakers Rack Bookends

Bakers Rack Bookends

I chose wire bakers' racks for my library shelves because they were significantly more durable than cheap pressed-wood shelves at a relatively similar cost. I also appreciated that they would not collect dust. However, one challenge with this approach is keeping books from toppling over. To address this issue, I designed and printed custom bookends to provide support. This project is part of a tutorial on using the free Blender 3D modeling program to create your own 3D printable items. Please visit my Instructables post to learn how to design and print your own bookends from concept to finished product. Choose whether you want arches with or without a lion emblem, or opt for the plain wedge design. Print the model and carefully remove the "mouse ears" raft attachments. I used PLA material, 2 shells, and 10% infill settings during printing.
