I created this futuristic firearm for my Rocket Riders of the 27th Century book series, available on Amazon, iBooks, Smashwords, Nook, Kobo, and Barnes & Noble's website as well as Books-a-Million. This design pays homage to retro-futuristic styles that dominated pulp fiction during its heyday in the fictional universe I've crafted. Although my story takes place in a time when modern technology has already begun to emerge, remnants of this vintage aesthetic can still be found alongside more contemporary gear and vessels. The Baird Strategic pocket proton ray was specifically marketed to colonial forces rebelling against Earth's authority in the 26th century as an compact yet potent weapon capable of taking down enemies with a single shot.
