Updated in November 2019, this customizable design generates Bahtinov masks tailored for telescopes during astrophotography sessions. Named after Paul Bahtinov, these masks assist in focusing by creating visible diffraction spikes. To use, center a star and place the mask over your telescope or camera lens; focus is achieved when spikes cross. Design parameters include optical tube diameter, scope size, secondary mirror holder measurements, and gap sizes. Post-printing, affix self-adhesive felt pads to protect the corrector lens. Mask size limitations have been adjusted for telescopes up to 14" SCT corrector plates.
