If your telescope outshines your 3D printer in size, keep searching no more. This parametric Bahtinov focusing mask is split into two or four parts so that it can be printed with any standard machine. The design is based on brentb's original single-part concept. The Bahtinov mask is a must-have tool for astronomers and astrophotographers to ensure clear images through precise focusing. Pavel Bahtinov created the initial prototype, which you can learn more about at http://www.nightskyimages.co.uk/bahtinov_mask.htm. For optimal results with this design tailored specifically for 8-inch telescopes of focal length 1000mm, utilize Customizer or OpenScad to fine-tune it according to your telescope's specifications. You may find an online tool helpful for Bahtinov factor calculation here: http://astrojargon.net/MaskGenerator.aspx. However, using the Customizer resulted in an error with printing the fourth segment that has now been resolved; building directly through OpenScad had always worked flawlessly. **Installation Guidelines** Since natural color suits this design perfectly, print it in black to maximize darkness across the blocked areas. For smoother layer adhesion on kapton surfaces, be cautious during initial build-ups because delicate lines may get disturbed easily. I successfully mitigated these issues by increasing outer wall thickness to 0.4 mm and initiating prints with a robust initial layer of height 0.40. I achieved best results with 0.25 mm print layer heights throughout. Finally, secure stability for all built sections together by firmly gluing them.
