This is a very niche design, I was the recipient of a bone anchored hearing implant back in October. Specifically the Cochlear BAHA attract was inserted into my skull behind my deaf ear as part of an attempt to aid my hearing impairment, which is being completely deaf in one ear, also known as single-sided deafness or SSD. For those unfamiliar with the device, a magnet and titanium abutment were surgically implanted into my skull beneath the skin, where a magnet attached to the hearing aid portion is then held securely in place by magnetic forces. Microphones pick up sound waves, which are then converted into vibrations that shake my skull using a transducer, and these vibrations are transmitted to my good ear through a phenomenon called bone conduction, effectively using my skull as a resonator or soundbox. I'm excited to share with you a hack I've developed for an inexpensive Bluetooth speaker known as the Groove Cube, which enables BAHA attract users like myself to create a compact and affordable Bluetooth speaker that can be used to stream music or make hands-free phone calls. This is particularly useful because many BAHA users already rely on their hearing processor to perform these tasks, but this hack offers a much louder sound quality that's clearer, brighter, and more impressive overall. The best part? It's extremely cost-effective, which makes it an attractive option for those of us who value our expensive and fragile BAHA processors. This hack is specifically designed for the select few individuals who possess the unique ability to utilize a BAHA attract implant, as well as hearing-impaired tinkerers who crave a budget-friendly solution that allows them to enjoy music and other audio content without risking damage to their valuable processor. As such, I'm pleased to provide a detailed PDF guide that outlines the step-by-step process for modifying a Groove Cube Bluetooth speaker into a bone-anchored ghetto speaker.
