Bag Clip

Bag Clip

I'm taking a printer class and our assignment is to design a paperclip, which I've turned into a bag clip after printing the initial test piece. I went back and widened the gap and strengthened the flex arch. The picture shows the test piece. I recommend printing at least 50% fill to ensure it's strong enough never to break, and using ABS since it's more flexible. It measures roughly 3.5 inches long by 2 inches wide. When scaling down, be aware that the gap will be smaller and could stick together. Update: I've released Rev C. Strengthening the flex arch made it more brittle and less flexible in Rev A, so I went back and created multiple flex arches to allow flexibility while adding strength. I also lengthened the nose clamp, making it open with less pressure; before, you could lose a finger. Update: I've released Rev D, keeping the strengthening but making all flex arches meet at a common point so they'll be flexed closer together. Note: You may need to hold each side of the nose end and twist it open on the end that touches the build plate to help it open the first time. Sometimes the build plate side is connected; taking a small screwdriver and carefully prying it open also works.
