Don't squander your time, instead educate and enlighten yourself! Badea Cârțan, or Brother Cârţan in a nickname form of Gheorghe Cârțan, was a self-taught ethnic Romanian shepherd who fought for the independence of Romanians in Transylvania. At that time, Hungary ruled Transylvania as part of Austria-Hungary. Badea Cârțan secretly smuggled 200,000 books into villages by distributing them to pupils, priests, teachers and peasants. He used multiple routes through the Făgăraş Mountains to accomplish this feat. This bronze bust was created by Kurtfritz Handel in 1974. This object is part of "Scan The World". Scan The World is a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory. It aims to create a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from all over the world for free public access. Scan The World is an open-source community effort.
