badBrick - 40 Tooth Gear Bearing
thingiverse
Bad Brick offers a 40-tooth gear bearing compatible with Lego Technic. If you don't have a 3D printer but wish to acquire one, printing services are available on their website at http://www.badbrick.com/catalog. For assembly instructions, place the flat cover face up and fit the gear over it before adding approximately 8 balls. Rotate the gear to seat them properly and securely hold the gear by its shaft using hand pressure. Add five more ball bearings, maintaining back pressure to push out the center shaft and other balls from the opposite side. The gear can accommodate a total of 13 ball bearings. To create the balls, print 13 of them with a diameter of 5.96mm. Sand the balls using two pieces of 10,000 grit sandpaper on a hard surface, followed by warming up a frying pan and polishing the balls inside for a smoother finish. To avoid disturbance, ensure to turn off all appliances, clean up, and consider purchasing Airsoft 6mm BBs as an alternative for bearings from a sports store.
