Bad Gnome - Oversized
myminifactory
My girlfriend had her heart set on a gnome for our garden. Unfortunately, there aren't many options available online, so I settled on this one from Thingiverse. However, we wanted it to be full-sized, which made scaling up the design impossible due to our 200mm bed size. To overcome this limitation, I decided to split the model into three separate pieces. If you plan to assemble the gnome, you can use a 3/8" wooden dowel cut into 49mm lengths for alignment or print four of the pins instead. The finished gnome stands at an impressive 15 inches tall. Our gnome required extensive preparation before painting. I applied multiple coats of automotive filler/primer, followed by sanding to smooth out any imperfections. Next, I filled in the gaps with wood putty and let it dry before applying another layer of primer. After that, I wet-sanded the surface to create a uniform texture. The clothes were painted with exterior house paint, while the face and hair were brought to life with Plaid FolkArt acrylic paints.
