Backshell for 5" LCD Panel
thingiverse
Notice I need to shift the four mounting holes on the rear of the backshell because they obstruct the buttons. Woops, nearly forgot the button extenders. Print five of these; you may have to refine the print a little since it's quite tight. I also put a 1mm fillet on the outer edges and deepened the front and back side edges of the power socket opening. I've created a Desktop stand for a 5-inch LCD panel frame that attaches to the rear of the backshell. This assembly pairs with the front bezel for the 5-inch LCD display that I manufactured for a 5-inch HDMI (no touch) LCD panel from Adafruit. It's listed as a Raspberry Pi accessory there. This is the reverse side. I put 50mm holes for mounting on it; you can craft an arm or desktop stand, if desired; I'm planning to either procure one or create it if necessary, and link it here if needed. I'll have to include assembly instructions, of course. The wires on the button board are slightly thicker and longer than necessary, so I'd like to swap them out for more suitable ones. I'm not absolutely sure but they seem to be JST PHR-series and could possibly work with 24AWG in those crimp-contacts from Digi-Key. Parts needed: • Four 1/4" screws • Three of them • Two 1/4" countersink screws to secure the front panel Thin craft foam about 1mm thick Inner workings are held by five #4 screws - three on the main board, two on the button board. The front bezel is attached using four #2 flat-head screws. Use a short length of regular PLA filament for the light pipe. Yes, you'll have to extend the LED too. Melt one end and widen it enough so it can't slide through the hole then attach the button board, snip the filament off, and that's perfect! Now that the details are noted down I will check if they align with Adafruit and Digi-key website requirements as per 1/4"-20 US national thread standard. Printed buttons dimensions = ( 22mm ) in length buttons diameter (16 mm ) Backshell mounting dimensions: mounting screws at distance of 3.5cm
