These two designs fit perfectly onto a 3/8-inch dowel of any length, crafting the ultimate backscratcher. For my example, I used a 3/8-inch birch dowel, readily available at Home Depot, and gave it a light finish; Home Depot also carries oak dowels, but you can opt for plexiglas as well. You have flexibility with your choice of 3/8" diameter rod. The designs are showcased in two versions: one includes a base for stability during printing, while the other model is print-ready on its own. The included base ensures that your backscratcher remains upright; however, the actual part is easy to detach from the base after printing has completed. The 'model only' files for printing sans support are included specifically for SLS printers. You have complete control over sizing. However, in order to maintain a precise 3/8" hole diameter: you'll need to perform these steps: fill and reposition with a 3/8-inch cutting cylinder in place; smaller versions necessitate corresponding reductions in the original hole's size as well as the associated cutting cylinder dimensions; next scale your model freely to meet your desires; and then finally remove the newly-positioned cutting cylinder. A stained or painted finish offers limitless creative opportunities when working with wood dowels. Print details indicate that models accompanied by bases were printed on an UpBox+ at a 0.15mm layer resolution, with fine resolution settings utilizing Grey Tiertime PLA – actually leaning more toward off-white.
