BACKLIT BOX FOR QR CODES
thingiverse
This backlighting box is specifically designed for SoliDoodle's 3D Printed Custom QR Code generator. It uses nine 3mm white LEDs for illumination and was showcased at the company's 3D Printing Expo after-party. However, it was found to be incompatible with Apple's Code Scanner. To use the QR code customizer, set the options as follows: QR Code Data Display Method = 1, QR Code Mirroring = NO, Select Main Object = 4, Thickness option = 1.8, round_corner = 1, rounded corner_num = 0, Width of object = 80, Height of object = 80, Thickness of object = 5, Distance from tag edge = 0, Wall thickness of perimeter = 8, Wall height of perimeter = 0.2, Scale multiplier for code = 2.5, QR tolerance = 0.001, X location of QR code center = 0, Y location of QR code center = 0, Z location of bottom of QR code geometry = 1, Thickness of QR code = 2, Rotate QR code around z-axis = 0, and input from data generator for dimension of QR code (copy and paste from QR SIZE.txt) = 33. When printing the QR CODE, switch to black filament when printing the actual code layers. The other parts should be printed in black except for the INNER LED BOX, which should be white. Clean up the holes for the 3mm LEDs and assemble the box with a 9 VDC power supply, wiring up 3 parallel rows and putting them in series with a 100 ohm resistor on the positive side of the incoming power line. Insert the QR code into the outer box and the inner LED BOX sleeve first, then run the power supply line through the hole in the rear cover. Gluing is optional due to the tight fit. This backlighting box will make your QR Code stand out and easily visible for scanning. Feedback on the QR generator settings is highly appreciated if you can get the resulting QR Code to work reliably.
