Back Up Sump Pump Alarm
thingiverse
My father-in-law has one sump pump well in his basement with two sump pumps inside - a primary pump and a backup pump. The primary pump failed a while ago, but thankfully, the backup pump kicked in and worked just fine despite its float being set too high, which left some of the basement flooded. We quickly adjusted the float position on the backup pump to prevent this from happening again. To make sure we're alerted when the backup pump is running, we added a water level alarm that will let us know it's time to replace the primary pump. The guts of the alarm consist of two key components: a sensor and an outlet splitter or power strip. I ordered them on Amazon - one is this 3D printed housing that holds everything together and the other is these button head #6 x 1/2" long sheet metal screws that secure the housing in place.
