Replica Hoverboard from Back to the Future part 2: A Thrilling Prop Creation All parts for the bottom of the board were carefully printed, including the essential footplate on top of the board. A hole cover was also included to mimic the area where handlebars would have been attached in the original hoverboard design. The board itself was made from sturdy 3/4 inch plywood with precise dimensions of 8in by 28in. Approximately three inches were cut and skillfully beveled on the back of the board to give it a slight angle of about 25 degrees, providing a sleek appearance. The edges were carefully chamfered and painted in bold magenta. To achieve an authentic look, I used full sheet sticky labels for the decals. An SVG file has been included containing the graphics I created based on reference photos. These decals are printed and cut along the diagonal lines to hide their seams better. While regular sticky labels were used, it's recommended to find weatherproof ones if you plan to use this prop outdoors where it may get wet or dirty. The 3D printed parts were carefully printed at .2mm layer height, then finished with a smooth surface using Bondo filler and paint. The red magnetic plate holders are designed to be fastened with #4 wood screws, although I decided to glue all the parts to the board for added security. Two inches wide grip tape was painted and applied to the top of the board on the footplate as well as the front diagonal magenta strips. A channel was created underneath the footplate for a pink foot strap to be glued into place. To achieve an authentic look, I used a trimmed strip of pink fur; however, I think a strip of pink fuzz would be more accurate if you can find any.
