Bacchus

The statuette in question represents a "Little Bacchus holding a bucket in his left hand". It was first brought to light at the Palais-Cardinal in 1643, and later acquired by the Duchesse d'Aiguillon's collection (1694-1675) in 1675. This particular statuette is one of the rare antiques found in Richelieu's Parisian collection. The positioning of the ancient torso fragment bears a striking resemblance to the Adonis Mazarin.
