Babyhawk Custom Frame
thingiverse
This is a full custom frame for the original BabyHawk. It accommodates a broader range of motors while still utilizing a 2.3" prop size. You can easily transfer your electronics. If you decide to install larger motors, the ESCs will fit snugly, but you'll need to use the under/over method to secure the wires. I accomplished this by passing the wires through heat shrink under the ESC, then back through the shrink over the ESC and soldering them to the motor pads coming from the back of the ESC. When shrunk up and ziptied to the arms, it works flawlessly. However, you will sacrifice some heat dissipation, so if your setup pushes the limits of the 6A stock ESCs, you might experience difficulties. Fortunately, since this is a 20x20 stack, you can always switch to a 12A 4-in-1 with a 20x20 mount and it should function perfectly. The 3D printed components have been designed for durability rather than weight savings or aesthetics. Despite the main plate being made of minimalist carbon fiber, the combined weight remains relatively low. The carbon plate also features mounting holes for the stock BabyHawk camera mount, so if you prefer not to print and add extra weight, you can opt for that instead. The main plate is designed specifically for 2mm 0/90 layup carbon fiber. A DXF file for the carbon plate is included, allowing you to easily produce one using a CNC or access a cutting service. If you're cutting it yourself, ensure that you align the arms with the layup properly (aligned with the weave on the surface layers). If you're interested, I can possibly cut one and mail it to you; however, there's no guarantee on turnaround time as I may or may not have the carbon handy or the time to cut it immediately.
