Baby Shape Container Toys
thingiverse
I designed some shape sorters with the help of my little one. Most shape sorters won't let anything fit unless it's the right shape, making them too hard for young children to use - by the time they can master it, the toy has lost its charm. A great toy teaches as you go along. That's why in this design, anything fits into a square hole. Only triangles fit into triangle holes, and circles are somewhere in between. This allows kids to learn at their own pace. At first, they can put any shape into the square hole, then discover that it's special and easy to use. Next, they'll learn about orientation and how squares don't fit through circular shapes. This toy also features rounded edges because babies and sharp objects just don't mix. The box is small enough to be printed with a tiny print volume - around 10cm. It uses magnets (1/4 x 1/4 x 1/8 inch Neodymium Rare Earth Block Magnets) that can be glued on, making it fun to snap together. The model can be reconfigured as either a box or an open-sided container, offering plenty of interest for both babies and adults. Who doesn't love magnets? Remember to have fun and keep a close eye on your little one!
