My house boasted a sturdy gate at the top of the staircase, which was reinforced by an innovative add-on latch mechanism that prevented accidental openings. The existing gate had no locking mechanism other than a basic lift-to-open design, leaving it vulnerable to exploration by curious young minds - specifically my 2-year-old's inquisitive nature. To address this concern, I opted to supplement the gate with a sturdy latch system that provides a secure barrier. This versatile add-on can be adapted for various uses beyond securing open-backed stairways; a shed, cabinet, or any other secured entry point would greatly benefit from its installation.
