Baby Dragon Head [remix]
thingiverse
This is a baby version of [SIMPLIFI3D's teenage dragon]! I was initially planning to use it for my baby rattle, but the horns are a bit too sharp for little ones to swing around safely. Designed to fit with the cutout version of my Rainstick Baby Rattle, this piece is perfect for creating a unique and eye-catching head for your rattle. To print this design hollow, I used 5 walls and super slow settings at .8mm layer height with no infill. Although it worked out well, there are some issues to consider: due to the orientation I chose, some parts between the horn bumps printed a bit too thin. If you don't plan to use this as a rattle head, I highly recommend using infill for better results. As an added bonus, I drilled a hole in the neck of the dragon so that metal jewelry beads could be inserted inside. Be cautious when drilling: soft plastic can cause the drill bit to get sucked into it. To avoid this issue, clamp down the piece as tightly as possible and work your way up through different drill bits. Included are both the STL file without supports and one with Meshmixer supports that I designed for my preferred orientation. If you're interested in playing around with this design, feel free to try it out in Cura or Meshmixer - just be aware that some post-processing may be required to smooth out the neck area.
