This text describes a Wilton Baby Bullet vise replica, featuring jaws measuring 2" wide. You can view the original at http://goo.gl/YLVUi5. A word of caution: tools required for this project might not be available in an empty workshop; improvisation may be necessary. Tools used include a 3D printer, hand files, drill bits, taps, a band saw, metal lathe, angle grinder, rotary grinder, mig-welder, steel rod (3/16 x 3-1/2" long), 2" x 1/2" and 1/4" Delrin plastic (2 each), a 3/8-16 x 6" length of all thread rod, a 4" piece of 1/2" EMT tubing, a flat washer (1.075" OD x .710" ID), a 3/8-16 hex nut, an 82-degree counter sink drill, sandpaper, paint, Loctite 243, white lithium grease, assorted fasteners, and other items. The build process entails cleaning up printed parts for easy assembly, creating metal components (Bolt Assembly and Nut Assembly) using a lathe, welder, and sandpaper, trimming the flange off the rear cover, drilling holes for attachment, beveling for flat head screws, tapping jaw mounting holes in both vise bodies with #8-32, fashioning plastic jaws from Delrin, reverse-match drilling them to the vise body, and attaching a 3-1/2" steel rod handle. Safety precautions are essential when dealing with materials like EMT tubing and steel parts. Metric substitutions are possible for certain components.
