Launched in 2017 by the Archaeology and Ancient Sciences Institute of the University of Lausanne, the Collart-Palmyre project aims to digitize all archives related to Paul Collart's sanctuary of Baalshamîn (several thousand documents: photos, notes, letters, notebooks, plans, etc.). The 3D modeling of the temple of Baalshamîn in Palmyra is the result of a collaboration between the Collart-Palmyre project and Iconem startup, specialized in 3D digitization of heritage sites. (http://wp.unil.ch/collart-palmyre/) The Baalshamîn sanctuary is located north of ancient Palmyra city, in Syria. It was dedicated to the "Lord of the Skies", a west Semitic deity. The Baal shrine at Palmyra underwent significant evolution between approximately 20 AD and the inauguration of its tetra-style temple in 130/131 AD, during Emperor Hadrian's era. The architectural complex consists of three porticoed courtyards, a banquet hall, and the cella.
