BA15-type lamp sockets

Lamp sockets for BA15s single filament and BAY15d dual filament bayonet-fitting lamps widely used in automotive lighting are easily adapted to use 5 mm wide strips of thin copper foil as the side contact. One end of the strip is inserted from the outside into the top slot of the fitting, then folded over the top rim to the inside and finally through the bottom slot outwards again. Pull tight and secure with a small spot of solder where the strip leaves the bottom of the fitting if necessary. A small spring needed underneath the center-piece can be created by winding 0.8 mm welding wire in the grooves of a standard metric M10 bolt, removing it from the bolt and cutting the resulting spiral to length - three or four windings are sufficient. Mounting points and other features can be added as needed using a design program that handles STL imports. A small spotlight design is included as an example, used on my own 3D printer to provide lighting for the OctoPrint camera. Note: this spotlight design requires use with a LED lamp, as an incandescent lamp will produce too much heat and likely melt the spotlight. The lens-cap was printed from transparent, uncolored PETG. The rest of the design was also printed in PETG, using any color desired. All designs printed successfully and fitted without issue on my Anet-A8 (Prusa-i3 derivative) printer using PETG wire. Good luck with your project!
