Last minute submission. Hopefully made it under the wire. This is a design I've had spinning around for a while. It was originally meant for a chassis I was designing, and was pretty close to the Supercar System dimensions. Not my first attempt at a car body design, but the first one I was willing to share, hehe. See the last render "car44.png", for an idea where this started. My design inspirations were the Ferrari 458/488, Alfa Romeo 4C, and I guess those goofy headlights came from the 90's Acura Integra. Seems to be some Chevrolet Corvette design language lurking in there too, hey, why not, it's got an LS motor in it.Oh, and yes, I guess it's a "jellymold", so doesn't really meet the design brief for this contest. Why? Because I'm and old guy, and that's what I like. I grew up dreaming about cars like the Lamborghini Miura and Porsche 911. I remember one early 911 road test in particular that used the phrase "...molded jello shape" describing it's body. Yeah baby, give me some of that molded jello. Some more pontificating. When I started this doodle a few years back, I was thinking of buying a kit car like the Ultima GTR or RCR Superlite, but their body designs just weren't to my taste. Since I was sitting on an umpteen thousand dollar investment in CAD software, I thought (foolishly) that I could do better. I had also been following Dennis Palatov's dpcars website, and there he was, living my dream, designing cars in Solidworks and building them, and they looked way better than anything I could come up with. His D2 is actually pretty close in concept to the Supercar Systems car, though lately he seems to have diverted his efforts into the cost-no-object D5.Well, now I'm sort of retired and the dreams of building a $70k-$100k kit car are on hold for the moment. Many thanks to Supercar System and Grabcad for hosting this challenge. Seeing the quality of work in the other designs submitted so far is quite humbling. There are some real rockstars out there!
