B1 Battle Droid - 1/4 scale
thingiverse
This is a meticulously detailed 1:4 scale B1 battle droid model, inspired by the epic battles depicted in the Star Wars prequels. Each part of the figure has been expertly designed to enable it to be posed with articulated joints that allow for a wide range of expressive movements. To bring this model to life, I selected a pose reminiscent of a dramatic moment from the battle of Geonosis, carefully combining the legs of one droid with the arms of another to create a truly unique and striking visual effect. Although the assembled figure is slightly fragile and prone to disassembly, adding a functional weapon might just give it the edge it needs to hold its own against even the most determined Jedi. Update: October 2014 Additional features have been incorporated into this model, including detailed backpack geometry and stunning images of a companion droid proudly wearing its new backpack. These improvements not only enhance the overall visual impact but also reinforce the intricate design work that has gone into bringing this battle-hardened robot to life. Printing Instructions Carefully review each model part before beginning assembly, noting that every object is expertly crafted in relative proportions and positioning - meaning no adjustment for printing ideal placement was required during production. A keen eye for geometry and optimal material handling will allow the successful printing of even the smallest parts. Some prints are relatively easy to position but a majority of the prints need extensive fine-tuning in order to produce optimal prints; do test the various possible positions so you find what is suitable. Every print surface must be completely polished. You should adjust settings if they appear different compared to the results on your unique printer with varying materials used, due to differing qualities that affect them individually or even overall results. Some critical components of this battle droid will require more delicate handling: specifically, The pivoting points in both upper and lower arms - as you assemble these sections on small sections (1.75mm filament) there may be slight misalignment requiring adjustment before re-attachment Shoulders, and hip joints also need special attention because the model designers envisioned their intended use would involve movement across these surfaces with ball bearing mechanics which demands thorough adhesion so everything functions right as originally conceived. As far as additional decorative touches - try using 1.75mm filament straightened sections in place of small, stiff plastic segments which could pose significant obstacles to creating ideal poses by attaching and twisting freely about fixed pivots while making precise fine tuning maneuvers with fingers on delicate items without worrying it breaking completely apart instantly; be aware of some parts might bend more easily then needed.
