This text examines the existing circular weld fixture from a motion and time study perspective, along with process characterization and design features. Issues with the current design were identified and resolved, specifically focusing on improving location accuracy of weld pieces and reducing loading/unloading times. The new fixture also offers increased automation flexibility for varying workpiece sizes and consumes less power than its predecessor. Design tools used include CATIA V5 R20 for concept generation, 3D modeling, and 2D drafting, as well as ergonomic analysis; AutoCAD for drafting; and Gantt charts for project planning.
