It grows in botryoidal masses, stalactitic formations, and reniform formations as a tight cluster of fanning fibrous needles making up a solid mass. Malachite results from weathering other copper ores and is often associated with Azurite and Chrysocolla. Azurite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral known for its vibrant blue appearance forming with colorful, copper-rich minerals.
