Locality: Banat Mountains, Romania No.: 5387 Size: 9 cm x 5 cm x 5 cm Formula: Azurite - Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2, and Malachite - Cu2(CO3)(OH)2 Description: Intense green copper-based mineral malachite is found in many forms. It grows in botryoidal masses, stalactitic formations, and reniform formations as a tight cluster of fanning fibrous needles making up a solid mass. Malachite results from weathering other copper ores and is often associated with Azurite and Chrysocolla. Azurite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral known for its vibrant blue appearance forming with colorful, copper-rich minerals. Azurite and malachite form together due to their similar chemical makeup. Website: http://geology.uaic.ro/muzee/mineralogie/ Concept & 3D-modelling by dr. Andrei Ionut APOPEI
