My first creation is taking shape, though it's a simple rig and I'm still figuring out how everything fits together. The materials are created but not yet applied, and there are plenty of complexities with the clothing, UV mapping... fingers crossed that I got it all right. I'll keep pushing to learn more about what makes this work, hoping someone out there can put my creation to good use.
