Axle & spindle 6" vise jaws

Set of jaws for clamping onto common bicycle axles and spindles. Designed for 6" vises. This tool facilitates the overhauling of hubs, pedal spindles, & more. The 1" hex can be used with any common freewheel or cassette removal tool. It features: 5 mm 9 mm 10 mm 12 mm 14 mm 20 mm 25 mm 30 mm 36 mm diameter cylindrical slots, as well as: 1" hex slot 90 deg angle cutout Being 3D-print ready, the plastic will be much friendlier to threads & not mar them due to excessive force. These could be easily disposable, & afford you better anti-twisting capabilities. Some pictures taken from Park Tool's website. How I Designed This Based on the Park Tool AV-5 (https://www.parktool.com/product/axle-and-spindle-vise-inserts-av-5). Common industry thread standards are listed here (https://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/basic-thread-concepts). This was surprisingly non-trivial to plot out. I tried my best to keep everything relative parametric, but it ended up being easier to hardcode some stuff. In particular, I was trying to economize space, but make sure that the jaws would adequately grip in all configurations. Credit to Karol Kowalik for developing the hub model used for demonstration purposes. His model is available on GrabCad here (https://grabcad.com/library/dia-compe-grancompe-front-hub-1). In the future, it might be nice to add some magnets so the jaws stay attached to the vise. Showing purchase on each of the different planned diameters when fully tightened Configurations ============== Different configurations. There are two main configurations. There is a floating variety with a simple centered tab. One jaw is labelled, & the other is unlabelled. The second variety has two reference tabs that will lock jaw to a corner of the vise. It also has a labelled & unlabelled side. Obviously if you don't have a 6" vise, don't print this one. Category: Tools
