Axel's 3D printed quadcopter V2(carbon fibre arms)
thingiverse
This is version 2 of my 3D printed quadcopter with carbon fibre arms. I've completely remade my old design using Autodesk Inventor instead of SketchUp. This one is made for 14 mm diameter carbon fibre tubes and is a lot more durable, as well as looking better due to all plastic parts having more rounded shapes. Version 1 is still available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2427724 This quadcopter is designed mainly for LOS (Line Of Sight) flying but can also be flown FPV. I've included multiple fixed FPV camera mounts and an adjustable model, as well as other extra parts for mounting 5 mm LEDs, antennas and cables. The bigger version of the cable clamp can be used to clamp over the SMA connector on almost any FPV video transmitters. I used 14 mm carbon fibre tubes that I got from Hobbyking: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/carbon-fiber-round-tubes-14-12-500mm.html The carbon fibre tubes come in lengths of 500 mm, and I usually cut them into three pieces, about 166 mm each. I've also tried cutting them into four pieces, giving me 125 mm long arms. Shorter arms are perfect for FPV since it makes the quad slightly more durable. Longer arms are better for LOS flying since it makes the quad easier to see. When assembling the quadcopter frame, dry fit all parts and make sure everything fits as intended. The inside of the plastic parts may need to be sanded slightly for the carbon fibre tubes to fit. I use a "sanding cylinder" on a rotary tool for this. Start by gluing the motor mounts to the carbon fibre tubes. Then glue the arms to the main baseplate, while keeping the entire assembly upside down on a flat surface to make it straight and square. Use CA glue. The rest of the parts, including spacers and top plate, as well as extra parts, are attached using 10 mm long M3 screws. Many extra parts have the same hole spacing (20 mm), making it possible to assemble the quadcopter in many different configurations depending on your needs. All 3D files are the same.
