People of the Bronze Age were known to intentionally drop metal goods into rivers, swamps, and lakes as part of their rituals. This deliberate act of placing these items, either in large groups or singularly within watery environments, was deeply connected to significant events like births and deaths within their communities. It is likely that Bronze Age social structures relied heavily on controlling the exchange of valuable metalwork items.
