In July 2019, Field Ready hosted a workshop at Erbil Makerspace that sparked creativity among participants. The challenge was to utilize modeling techniques to represent their culture or traditional practices in Erbil or Iraq, and the results were nothing short of inspiring. Various ideas and innovative designs emerged from this collaboration. One such creation is the Awand, designed by a team of talented makers. This traditional tool for grinding food has been given new life through 3D modeling, allowing it to be visualized in a digital format. Although the original Awand is made of metal, this model serves as a virtual representation that can be easily produced with a metal 3D printer.
