Another avocado seed grower

04. May 2022 - Edit:

In the meantime I noticed the seed what I used as a sample to my project was not average or medium size. I found more which were smaller but heavier than the first one. They sunk with the initial version of the boat. Therefore I increased the heght of the ring, and also decreased the length of the arms. Uploaded file: avocado-boat-v3.stl

Because it is floating, evaporation of water cannot be an issue. Up to a certain extent of course. An important requirement for me it must be easy to remove. When planting in the soil, there is enough space to pull out the root. So it is well reusable.

It is easy to use in a common 0.5L jar or in a Nutella jar.

Print with high infill rate to increase of the layer adhesion in the arms! The ring is hollow inside. Infill matters only in the arms. No supports required. The printing took 1 and a half hour on my Anet A8 Plus.

Tip:

It can hold many sizes of seeds. Yet if the size isn't right, just heat up the arms with a lighter, and gently adjust them.

I attached also the FreeCAD file. I hope you can use it, if you want to modify something.
