Aven 17010 Adjustable Circuit Board Holder Bushing
thingiverse
The Aven 17010 Adjustable Circuit Board Holder, available on Amazon, falls short of greatness due to a design flaw. The spring used to compress the PC board digs into the plastic upright, causing it to chip away at the plastic. Furthermore, spinning the PCB in the wrong direction causes it to rotate in the opposite direction intended, making soldering an even more complicated 3-handed job. To address this issue, a bushing is installed between the spring and the plastic upright. Removing and reinstalling the "C" clip allows for the installation of the bushing. This modification significantly compresses the spring, limiting its compression but still allowing enough room to remove or insert the PCB without adjusting the upright's position. The metal shaft fits snugly into the bushing, eliminating any wobbling that could occur while soldering a joint.
