This of project of an autonomous underwater vechicle being currently developed by my student research group. I've designed and assembled the mechanical part of the project - chassis, torpedo launchers and general shape of the robot. Also, I've designed a body of the robot, which lowers the drag force and makes our construction stand out from other student projects. We use 5 thrusters, but 2 of them are azimuthal to ensure our robot has all 6 DoF.Torpedo launchers are made from 3D printed parts although it doesn't mean they cannot withstand significant forces. 3 Spring attached into the mechanism generate more than 300N of force which icreases torpedos' range of attack to 1.25m under water.The essential part of the project is finished and the real prototype has been assembled. The optional body is being developed as of now.By the way: it's NOT me on the photo :D. This is my colleague from electronic section ;)
