Autonomous Landing Modular Inflatable Habitat
thingiverse
This proposal is inspired by Curiosity's sky crane and SpaceX's Grasshopper booster. The inflatable circular habitation modules and complex components are ferried by autonomous landing vehicles before astronauts arrive. Ideally, the auto lander drops its protective bottom and lowers the deflated hab modules in the sky crane fashion. The hab module would then inflate, pressurize, and run self-diagnostic to check for potential damage. The lander vehicle touching down with its payload inside is another option, but will require astronauts to have ground construction vehicles to manually extract the contents. Also imagined are partial-atmosphere geodesic greenhouses, which require assembly. p.s. Don't worry about the girl standing outside without a space suit. :D Instructions Created in Sketchup
